A guy in Buena Creek called me on a Tuesday morning with half a key in his hand. He had been turning the ignition hard for weeks because it was getting stiff, and that morning the blade gave up. Snapped clean, with the front half still sitting in the cylinder.
He had a 2013 Nissan Titan and a lot of tools in the bed he needed to get to a job site. Towing it was not something he wanted to think about.
I drove out to him in Vista with my extraction kit and a Lishi pick for this key profile. The broken piece had not spun, so the ignition was still in the off position. I worked the extraction tool in alongside the wafers, got a grip on the blade fragment, and walked it out without disturbing anything inside the cylinder. The wafers read fine after I pulled it.
From there I decoded the lock while I was already in there, cut a fresh remote-head key to match, and programmed the transponder to the immobilizer. The 3-button remote functions came up on the first test. Lock, unlock, panic, all working. The whole job ran just under an hour from the time I pulled up, including the extraction.
He mentioned the dealer had already told him they could not look at it until Thursday and would need the truck for the day. He did not end up needing any of that. He was at his job site before lunch.
