2015 Nissan Titan
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

Q: How do I spot a scam locksmith before I get stuck?

The pattern is consistent. They quote a low number on the phone, show up with no real automotive equipment, and the price doubles once you're standing in a parking lot with no options. With a 2015 Titan specifically, a legitimate locksmith should know this truck takes a remote head key, know the correct battery size, and be able to explain how the immobilizer programming works before they touch anything.

Q: Will a replacement key work exactly like the original factory key?

Yes, when the job is done right. A properly programmed replacement remote head key for your 2015 Titan gets registered to the immobilizer the same way the original was. The truck starts, the lock and unlock buttons work, and the key functions the way it did the day you bought it. Before I leave any job, I walk through every button and start the vehicle at least once to confirm everything is responding.

Q: I bought a replacement remote head key online. Can you just program it, or do I need the whole key from you?

You can bring your own key in some cases, but there's a catch. The remote head key for this truck has to match the vehicle. If the key you bought has the correct factory FCC ID on the fob and is a genuine unit, it can usually be programmed. If it's a cheap aftermarket clone with inconsistent internals, it may not take a program reliably, and some of them fail outright during the process.

Q: My 2015 Titan starts fine but the remote lock and unlock buttons stopped working. What's going on?

Nine times out of ten on these trucks, that's the CR1620 battery running low. The immobilizer side of the key pulls less power than the remote transmitter, so the truck will keep starting after the buttons go dead. It's one of those situations where the key feels like it's dying slowly but it's really just the battery going first.

2015 Nissan Titan Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a woman parked near Fletcher Cove in Solana Beach. She had a 2015 Titan and was helping set up a small outdoor event. Her key had stopped triggering the locks remotely, and when she finally got in manually and turned the ignition, the truck stumbled and threw a key-not-detected warning on the dash.

She figured it was just the battery and had already bought a replacement coin cell at a nearby shop. Wrong size. The one she grabbed was a CR2032, which looks close but doesn't fit the remote head key for this truck.

I showed up with the right battery, a CR1620, and my programming equipment. Swapped the cell, verified the contact points were clean, and ran the key through a programming cycle to make sure the immobilizer was fully reading it. The truck fired clean and held.

The whole thing was maybe 25 minutes. She was back to what she was doing before I even packed up the van.

She mentioned the dealer had quoted her a tow, a service appointment, and a wait that would have chewed up most of her day. None of that was necessary. Sometimes the job is just knowing which battery goes in which key and having the tools to confirm everything is talking the way it should.

Nissan Titan Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Are you licensed and insured to work on Nissan vehicles in California?▼

Yes. EZ Car Keyz holds a California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services locksmith license, LCO#6792, and carries full liability insurance. For programming work on a vehicle like the 2015 Titan, the job runs through the OBD port using professional-grade equipment, not a generic code reader. Any locksmith you hire for this truck should be able to tell you exactly what tools they use and give you a real quote for a remote head key over the phone.
