2024 Acura Integra Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out near the Madera neighborhood in Simi Valley, a guy with a 2024 Integra called me because his smart key had stopped communicating with the car. Push the start button, nothing. Hold the fob up against the button, nothing. The dash kept telling him to bring the key closer, and the car just sat there.
He had already swapped the CR2032. Twice. Both cells came from the same pack that had been sitting in a junk drawer for an unknown stretch of time. Shelf-stored coin cells bleed voltage slowly, and a battery that reads 3V on a meter can still be too weak to power a fob at the output level the car expects. On top of that, he had the fob clipped to a carabiner with his house keys and a metal bottle opener. That kind of metal mass right against the fob is a real signal problem, not a myth.
I isolated the fob from everything else, tested it, and confirmed the board was functioning. Dropped in a fresh CR2032 from sealed stock, not a drawer, and ran through every function: proximity unlock on both door handles, the start button, lock-on-walk-away, and the remaining buttons on the fob. Everything came back clean.
He did not need a new fob. He needed a battery that was genuinely fresh and a little distance between the fob and a handful of metal. Total time on site was about fifteen minutes. The dealer quote he had already gotten was for a full replacement and programming visit. He saved a good chunk just by having someone show up and actually diagnose it first.
