Near the Santa Susana Depot Museum in Simi Valley, a guy with a 2024 Integra Type S called because his smart key died mid-shopping trip. Push to start gave him "No Key Detected" on the dash. He tried the backup method, holding the fob right against the button. Nothing.

Then verified the proximity functions worked on both door handles and the push-button start recognized it from pocket distance.
Twenty minutes in the parking lot, no tow to the dealer needed. He kept asking if it would happen again. I showed him the clean contacts and told him to buy batteries from somewhere that actually rotates stock.
