2004 Audi Allroad Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A woman over in Conejo Oaks called about her 2004 Audi Allroad. She described the key as "barely holding together," which I hear a lot. When I got there I could see exactly what she meant. The flip blade had so much play in the pivot that it would swing partway out on its own just from the weight of the fob. She had been pressing it shut with her thumb every single time she put it into the ignition. Had been doing that for months.

I popped the housing open right there on the hood of the car. The remote board and the transponder chip inside were both in solid shape. No corrosion, no cracked solder points, nothing wrong with the electronics at all. The problem was entirely the plastic shell and the worn pivot hardware. The blade itself had also picked up some wear from being forced into the ignition at an angle for so long.
I transferred the board and chip into a new flip shell, cut a fresh blade to match the vehicle, and tested the remote functions one by one. Lock, unlock, the full button count. Then I tested the ignition. Started right up without any complaint.
She looked at the fob like she was waiting for it to fall apart again. It didn't.
The dealer quote was for a job that didn't need to happen. Everything she actually needed was done on site in her driveway, for a fraction of what they wanted.
