2004 Audi Allroad Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A woman at the tire shop near Bard Reservoir in Thousand Oaks had a 2004 Audi Allroad with a flip key that was barely holding on. The HU66 blade would not lock into the open position anymore. She was pinching the blade out with her thumb every time she started the car, and you could see the plastic pivot was cracked through.
The dealer told her the whole key needed to be replaced from scratch. New key, new programming, new everything. That is a lot of money for a housing problem.
I checked the Megamos 48 chip with my VVDI Key Tool. Read the crypto data clean, matched the immobilizer on the cluster. The remote board for MYT8Z0837231 tested fine on all four buttons, including the trunk release. The guts of this key had years left.
I moved the chip and remote board into a fresh aftermarket shell, dropped in a new CR2032, and cut a new HU66 blade to match her existing key. Tested every button, cycled the ignition twice, locked and unlocked from 30 feet.
She stood there watching me snap the new shell together on the hood of her car. When the blade flipped open and locked with a clean click, she just kind of laughed. She had been nursing that broken key for months.
The chip inside an Audi flip key can outlast two or three shells if you catch it before the board gets damaged from rattling around loose.
