2023 GMC Hummer Ev Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
In Wilson, off one of the quieter condo rows near the back, a dog groomer flagged me down in her own driveway. She drives a 2023 GMC Hummer EV, and the fob shell had split right at the hinge point.
The blade was still attached but wobbling, and one of the button faces had started to sink in on one side. Cosmetically rough, functionally she was holding it together with two fingers every time she used it.
She had already called the dealer. They told her the whole fob needed to be replaced and programmed from scratch.
What they skipped past is that the part doing all the actual work - the circuit board, the chip, the button contacts - was still in perfect shape. The shell was the problem. Just the shell.
I pulled up with replacement housings and my decoding tools. Before touching anything, I decoded the blade directly so I had an exact cut on file. Then I popped the cracked shell open, pulled the internals, and transferred everything into a fresh housing. Snapped it together clean, no gaps, buttons sitting flat the way they should. Cut a new blade to the decode. Tested every button, checked range walking away from the vehicle, and verified the fob was communicating correctly.
The whole thing took less than thirty minutes in her driveway. She didn't need a new chip. She didn't need programming. She needed a shell swap and a clean blade, done right.
The dealer price was for a job that didn't need to happen. She paid a fraction of that, and she never had to leave home.
