2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in the Presidio area of Santa Barbara, a guy texted me a GPS pin from a trailhead. He'd hiked out that morning, left his Ioniq 5 in the dirt lot, and somewhere between the trail and the car he lost his only fob. No spare at home. No dealer nearby that could touch it same day. He'd already called one shop that told him to tow it in.

He didn't need to tow anything.

I loaded up for the job before I left. The 2024 Ioniq 5 smart key replacement is a diagnostic job, not a cut-and-try job. I brought the right equipment to back up the existing key data from the vehicle before touching anything, which matters when you're registering a new fob into a system that already has stored key memory from a fob that's now gone.

When I pulled in, he was sitting on the hood looking at his phone. I walked him through what I was doing: read the module, clear the lost fob, register the new one, verify the blade, test every function. The whole job happened right there in the dirt, hood up, diagnostic tablet running off my van's power.

The car started. He did that thing people do where they start it, turn it off, and start it again just to be sure.

He mentioned the dealer quote he'd gotten over the phone before he called me. It was not a small number, and that was before they added the tow. He saved a good chunk just by making one different call.
