2020 Hyundai Ioniq
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How fast can you get to me in Oxnard?

For most of Oxnard, including La Colonia and the surrounding neighborhoods, I'm typically on site within 30 to 40 minutes of your call. When you reach out, I confirm the year, model, and key situation, load the right blanks and equipment, and head straight to you. No dispatch queue, no relay through a call center.

Q: Can I get a key made today?

Yes. I carry Ioniq-compatible key blanks and the programming equipment on every call. There's no ordering a part, no waiting for a shipment, and no backorder surprise. You call, I show up, the key gets cut and programmed on the spot. Same day, wherever you're parked in Oxnard.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online for my 2020 Ioniq. Can I program it myself?

No. The 2020 Ioniq does not have an owner-accessible self-programming sequence. There's no ignition-turn trick, no button combination, nothing you can do from the driver's seat to pair a new fob. That kind of onboard relearn only exists on older vehicles with a basic transponder key in an ignition cylinder. The Ioniq's push-button system requires diagnostic equipment connected to the OBD port to register a new key into the security module.

Q: My Ioniq start button sees the fob sometimes but not others. Is the key failing?

Not necessarily. Intermittent recognition on the 2020 Ioniq is one of the more common complaints on owner forums, and the fob itself is often the last thing at fault. First suspect is the CR2032. These fobs will behave erratically well before the battery reads as fully dead. Swap it first. If a fresh battery doesn't fix it, check whether the behavior is tied to a specific door or location in the cabin.

2020 Hyundai Ioniq Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

He got off work and walked to the park and ride off Ventura Road, right at the edge of La Colonia. His 2020 Ioniq just sat there. Pressed the fob, nothing. Held it against the start button the way the manual says to do when the battery is low. Still nothing. The car wouldn't acknowledge the key at all.

He called the dealer. Earliest slot was Thursday. It was Monday. A tow from the lot would've eaten most of his evening and then some. He found EZ Car Keyz and called instead.

I was there in under 35 minutes. Got the door open, connected my diagnostic equipment through the OBD port, and pulled the security module data. The fob was still registered. The issue was a communication fault that had stacked up after the battery died completely. The backup hold-to-button procedure needs just enough power to handshake, and his CR2032 had nothing left to give.

Reset the fault, swapped the battery, reconfirmed both key slots in the module, and walked every button and both door handles before I called it done. The whole job happened in the same parking space he pulled into that morning.

He drove home that evening. The dealer would have meant three days without the car, a tow bill, and a service queue. None of that happened.

Hyundai Ioniq Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

How long does a 2020 Hyundai Ioniq key replacement take?▼

Depends on the situation. If you have one working key and need a spare added, the programming portion once I'm connected typically runs 10 to 20 minutes. The full visit, arrival to handing you a tested key, is usually under an hour. All-keys-lost takes a bit longer because I have to pull the security PIN through the diagnostic port before I can enter the immobilizer menu to register new keys. That step has a built-in timing sequence.
