He got off work, walked across the park and ride near Proctor Street Plaza in Oxnard, and his 2020 Hyundai Ioniq was completely dead to his fob. Press the lock button, nothing. Hold the fob against the start button column where the backup reader sits, still nothing. The smart key's CR2032 had drained while the car baked in the lot all day.

The system still had his fob registered, but the SMARTRA (Smart Recognition Assembly) unit on the steering column had logged a communication fault from the repeated failed attempts with a dead battery. The code wouldn't clear itself just by putting a fresh CR2032 in. It needed an OBD reset.
Swapped the battery in his TQ8-FOB-4F11, cleared the fault, and tested every function: proximity lock, proximity unlock, remote start hold sequence, and the start button from both seats. All clean. Gave him a spare CR2032 for the glovebox.
He drove home that same evening. His Ioniq never left the parking space he pulled into that morning, and he skipped three days in a dealer service queue.
