A tax attorney called me from an office park near Old Mission Santa Barbara at 10:20 on a Tuesday night during filing season. She had one smart key for her 2019 I-Pace and it was gone. Purse, desk drawers, conference room, parking lot. Nothing.

She watched the whole process from about three feet away, arms crossed, not saying much until the dash lit up and the car was ready to drive. Then she just said, "That's it?"
