A travel blogger living up in the Big Sky neighborhood had her 2021 Jaguar I-Pace sitting in the driveway for about three weeks while she was out of town. When she got back, the fob was fully dead and she defaulted to the emergency blade.
The blade caught at a weird angle in the door cylinder, she forced it, and it snapped off inside the lock. A previous locksmith told her the cylinder was seized and would need to be drilled out and replaced before any new key work could happen. She called me for a second opinion before agreeing to that.

Then I decoded the lock mechanically, cut a fresh emergency blade to match, and transferred the working electronics from her original fob into a new housing since the circuit board itself had survived.
After that came the part that actually takes time on a modern Jaguar: connecting to the vehicle through the diagnostic port, authenticating with the security system, and registering the key properly so the immobilizer would accept it. The I-Pace runs a sophisticated electronic architecture and the key enrollment is not something you skip or shortcut. I tested every function before I packed up - door lock, door unlock, the start button response, and the emergency blade in the cylinder.
She paid a fraction of what the first locksmith quoted her. The other quote included a new cylinder, new key hardware, and labor for the whole teardown. None of that was necessary.
