The wellness coach at Hummingbird Trailhead had that look. You know it: standing next to a locked I-Pace at 5:10 AM, broken key blade stuck in the driver door.
Her K0BJXF18A remote split right at the pivot point. Classic stress fracture. The blade snapped clean when she tried to turn it, leaving half in the lock cylinder. Zero backup keys.
I extracted the blade piece with my Lishi pick while she held the broken fob halves like evidence. The good news: the PCF7953 chip inside was intact. I read the transponder data off her broken board, transferred it to a fresh shell, and cut a new blade on the spot. No need for the full KVM wipe that turns into a nightmare on these.
The I-Pace accepted the rebuilt key immediately. Door locks, hatch, panic button, activity key mode. All working. She made her 5:30 class.
The dealer path would've meant a flatbed tow to Thousand Oaks, minimum two days wait, and way more than what I charged. Plus they'd probably push for a second key "while we're in there" because JLR policy requires at least one working key present to add spares.
