Wood Ranch is quiet before sunrise. The parking lot at the pilates studio off the main stretch was nearly empty when she pulled in for her dawn class, and that's when everything went wrong.
Her 2022 I-Pace was the only key she had. Bought it used, one key in the envelope, never got around to a spare. The fob housing had been cracked for a while, she told me, but it still worked so she left it alone. That morning she grabbed it a little too hard and the shell gave out.
