2022 Jaguar I-Pace Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Wood Ranch is quiet before sunrise. The parking lot at the pilates studio off the main stretch was nearly empty when she pulled in for her dawn class, and that's when everything went wrong.
Her 2022 I-Pace was the only key she had. Bought it used, one key in the envelope, never got around to a spare. The fob housing had been cracked for a while, she told me, but it still worked so she left it alone. That morning she grabbed it a little too hard and the shell gave out. Key head in one hand, blade stuck in the lock cylinder.
She was standing in the dark with a 5:30 class starting in twenty minutes.
I got there before her students did. The housing was split but the internal circuit board was intact, which matters a lot on these. I extracted the stuck blade, read what I needed from the original board, rebuilt the working electronics into a fresh shell, and got her a functioning fob again. Because the original board survived, I didn't have to treat it as all-keys-lost. That kept the job faster and the cost down compared to starting from zero.
She made her class. I left a card on her windshield suggesting she come back for a spare before the rebuilt one takes any more abuse.
The dealer comparison came up later when she texted to say thanks. She'd already looked up what Jaguar would have charged. She used the word "obscene."
