Working the Five Points Shopping Center parking lot in Oxnard, I met a K5 owner who'd already been to the dealer. They wanted him to leave the car for three days and pay what sounded like a mortgage payment for one smart key.
His CQOFD00790 fob had taken a swim in his coffee that morning. The buttons were dead sticky, and the car wouldn't see it from more than six inches away. He'd tried the rice trick. Made it worse.

Instead of cleaning a lost cause, I cut him a new 95440-M7200 smart key using the door lock for decode. Ten cuts on the HY22 blank, then straight to programming through the OBD port.
The K5's immobilizer accepted the new key on the first shot. No waiting for parts, no rental car, no leaving it at the shop. His old coffee-logged fob went in the trash, and the new one worked every button including the remote start his GT-Line came with.
Whole job took 40 minutes in the same parking spot where he'd called me from. Way less than what the dealer wanted, and he didn't lose his car for half a week.
