Your 1999 Lexus LS uses a remote head key with 3 buttons on the face, a CR1616 battery inside for the proximity signal, and a small emergency blade that slides out for manual door entry. Inside is a transponder chip that communicates with the car's smart ECU every time you press start.
A customer at home near Oxnard Transit Center had a LS with a worn smart key. The rubber buttons were fading, the shell had a hairline crack, and the emergency blade slot was loose.
