I got a call from a homeowner in Hollister Village on a Saturday afternoon. His 2012 Lexus LS was sitting inside a gated HOA community and his fob had stopped working entirely. I swapped in a proper CR1632, reseated the contacts, and tested every function in his driveway. Door handle touch unlock on all four doors, start button, lock and unlock. Everything came back clean. His car never moved. No tow, no HOA paperwork, no appointment.
He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a wait of several days just to get a diagnostic slot. That came up almost as an afterthought once the fob was already working.
