Got a call from a guy out in Fillmore, over by Pole Creek Trail, in one of those gated HOA neighborhoods. His 2005 LS 430 had one working smart key left, and the other one had been dead for years. He finally wanted a spare.

I pulled the Smart Key ECU data through the OBD-II port using my VVDI2 programmer, registered a new HYQ12BZE fob with 89904-50241 housing, and cut a fresh TOY48 emergency insert blade on the van. The certification process on these UCF30 models has a timed handshake, so I let the system cycle while I tested proximity detection at every door handle and the trunk.
He stood there watching the whole time. When the push-button start fired up on the new key, he just nodded and said "that's it?" like he expected it to be harder.
