2010 Saturn Aura
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: Does my 2010 Saturn Aura key need to be programmed, or can any locksmith just cut one?

It needs both cutting and programming. The key blade has to be cut to match your ignition and door locks, but the transponder chip inside the key head also has to be enrolled to your vehicle's immobilizer. If you just get it cut without programming, the engine will crank and immediately shut off. You need someone with the right diagnostic equipment to complete the enrollment. A hardware store key copy will not start this car.

Q: Are you licensed and insured to do this work in California?

Yes. EZ Car Keyz is licensed through the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services, fully insured, and bonded. We are also BBB A+ rated and enrolled in Google's Guaranteed program. Everything is verifiable online if you want to check before you call. We work out of a marked service van and carry ID. You are not letting a stranger guess at your car.

Q: I have one working key for my 2010 Aura. Should I get a spare made now or wait until I need one?

Get the spare now. Here is why that matters specifically for this car: as long as you have one working key in hand, making a second one is a normal add-a-key job. The moment you lose that last key, the job changes. All-keys-lost situations on transponder vehicles take more time and sometimes more equipment because there is no reference key to work from. Doing it while you still have the original is faster, simpler, and costs less.

Q: My 2010 Aura starts fine but the key feels like it is getting hard to turn. Is that a key problem or an ignition problem?

Could be either, but start with the key. A worn key blade can make the ignition cylinder feel stiff or sticky even when the cylinder itself is fine. If a freshly cut replacement key turns smoothly, the old key was the issue. If the new key also binds, the cylinder is wearing out and that is a separate repair. Worth ruling out the cheap fix first before pulling the ignition.

2010 Saturn Aura Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call out to Meiners Oaks on a Tuesday morning. The owner had parked on the street the night before and come out to find her only key missing. No spare, no backup. Just gone.

She had already called the dealer. They told her to tow it in and plan on waiting several days for a key to be ordered. She wasn't interested in that. A neighbor pointed her toward me.

I pulled up with the van, verified the vehicle, and got to work at the curb. Cut a replacement key blade to the car, then ran the transponder enrollment through the diagnostic port. The whole thing took under thirty minutes from the time I parked.

She turned the key and it started on the first try. That moment where someone hears their engine come back to life after a bad morning is always the same. Just quiet relief.

The dealer route would have meant a tow bill, a rental, and days of waiting. This was done before she finished her second cup of coffee.

Saturn Aura Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Does the 2010 Saturn Aura key have a fob or remote?▼

No. The 2010 Saturn Aura uses a straight transponder key with no remote functions attached. There is no fob, no buttons, and no battery to replace. It is a single metal key with a plastic head that contains the transponder chip. It turns in the ignition like any traditional key. If you have seen listings for a fob-style key for this car, those are for a different model year or a different trim that was sold under a different nameplate.
