2016 Volvo V60 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in the Poinsettia neighborhood of Ventura, a guy called me about his 2016 V60 after a very bad afternoon.
He had already been through it. He'd searched for a locksmith, found a cheap ad, and the person who showed up quoted him one price on the phone and a much uglier number at the car. The tech had a generic tool that couldn't complete the handshake with the Volvo body control module, spent close to an hour trying, and walked away with cash and a fob that still didn't work. The V60 just sat there, locked out, center console dead.
When he found me through Google Guaranteed, the first thing he asked before anything else was how to verify I was licensed. I gave him my BSIS license number while we were still on the phone. He pulled it up before I even left for Poinsettia.
When I got there, I could see what the previous guy had done wrong. He'd never completed the module handshake, so the new fob was stuck in a half-registered state. I cleared that out with my Smart Pro, ran the full authorization sequence against the body control module, and walked every button on the six-button fob. Lock, unlock, all of it. Then I ran a start cycle twice to confirm the immobilizer was happy.
The whole thing took about 45 minutes. He paid what I quoted him on the phone. No surprise number at the end.
He mentioned the dealer had given him an estimate before he tried the other guy. My price was a fraction of that. He said he wished he'd just called me first, which is something I hear a lot.
