2017 Volvo V60 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out near Emma Wood State Beach in Ventura, a guy flagged me down through a referral from his Rotary group. He had a 2017 Volvo V60 that another locksmith had already touched and walked away from. The engine would crank but the immobilizer killed fuel delivery every time. The other tech said the CEM module was bad. It wasn't.
What happened was the first locksmith tried to program through OBD on a tool that doesn't support P3 Volvo all-keys-lost without bench access to the CEM. Without reading the secured EEPROM data off the module first, key registration never actually completed. The CEM just kept rejecting the fob.
I used my HU56 Lishi to verify the blade cut on his key, then pulled the CEM from under the dash. Read it on the bench with my IM608, generated the correct key data from the EEPROM dump, wrote it back, reinstalled the module, and finished programming through OBD. His 6-button KR55WK49266 remote started the car clean on three consecutive tests. I showed him the IM608 screen confirming registration in the CEM.
He'd already paid the first locksmith for work that didn't work. That money was gone. But at least from here forward the car ran, and what I charged was a fraction of what the dealer wanted for the same result.
