2013 Chevrolet Cruze Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Shadowridge, on a weeknight, I got a call from a guy who couldn't get his 2013 Cruze to acknowledge his only fob. He was standing in his driveway and the car was just sitting there, locked and unresponsive. He'd already replaced the CR2032 himself, so I knew going in this wasn't a battery call.
When I got there, I could see the flip blade was chipped at the tip. He mentioned it had broken off a few weeks back and he'd been ignoring it. The blade issue wasn't the primary problem, but it told me the key had been through some stress. I connected to the OBD port, pulled up the security data, and confirmed the fob had actually dropped out of the vehicle's key memory. No programming conflict, no hardware fault on the car's end. The fob just wasn't enrolled anymore.
I had the correct replacement fob with me, cut the blade to his vehicle on site, and ran the programming sequence through my equipment. The whole job was done before he finished his coffee.
He'd called the dealer earlier that day. They told him to bring it in, said it would be at least a day turnaround because of scheduling, and the number they quoted him was not a small one. He mentioned it kind of casually at the end, like an afterthought. I didn't make a big deal of it. He had working keys again and didn't go anywhere.
