The 2008 Dodge Charger uses a fob that combines the remote and the physical blade in one unit. The housing on these takes a beating after 15-plus years. The blade pivot pin wears loose, the rubber buttons get sticky or fall apart, and the case itself can crack at the seam. Here's the thing: the electronics inside usually survive all of that. If the board is intact and the transponder is good, I can swap it into a fresh shell and skip the reprogramming step entirely. But if the board is cracked or corroded, or if the fob is simply lost, that's a full program job through the OBD port. Either way, the 2008 Charger does not have a self-programming sequence you can run at home. Adding a key to this vehicle requires diagnostic equipment that talks to the immobilizer. Also: the fob takes a CR2032. A weak battery on these doesn't always give you a clean "dead fob" signal.
