1995 Dodge Stratus
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

1995 Dodge Stratus Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy in Downtown Escondido called on a Tuesday afternoon. He runs a small office near the main strip and had a 1995 Dodge Stratus sitting in the lot with no working key.

Not lost, exactly. He had a key, but it had been bent and hammered back into shape so many times over thirty years that it would only work if you jiggled it just right, and that day it stopped working entirely.

He had already looked up my BSIS license number, LCO#6792, before he called. He mentioned it in the first thirty seconds. Said he searches every service provider before handing over access to a vehicle. I told him that was exactly the right move.

I decoded the lock on site and cut a replacement key to match. Clean cut, correct depth. Slid it in, turned over on the first try.

He shook his head a little, like he expected more drama. Thirty years of that jiggle routine, and the fix was a key that was actually cut right.

He asked what the dealer would have charged. I told him to call and find out, but that whatever they quoted, he'd have paid it waiting a few days for a basic metal key on a car this age. He saved a good chunk and had it done before his next meeting.
