A guy in Downtown Ramona had just picked up a 2003 Dodge Stratus at the local auction yard. Clean title, decent shape, one problem: it came with a single key. The auction told him to sort out a spare on his own. He figured it would be a quick errand.

I matched the blank, cut the blade on my machine, and programmed the new key on site so the immobilizer accepted it.
He stood there and watched the whole thing. When I handed it over and told him to try it himself, he turned it in the ignition and just kind of nodded like he was waiting for something to go wrong. It did not go wrong.
The part he was most relieved about: now that he has two working keys, if one ever gets lost, the next replacement is an add-a-key job instead of an all-keys-lost situation. That matters more than most people realize until they are staring at an empty hook by the door.
