He called at 9:15pm from the 24-hour laundromat lot in Coronado. His 1999 Dodge Stratus wouldn't start after his overnight janitorial shift ended. Push-to-start did nothing. The truck started immediately once the WIN module relearned the fob.
He made it to his next building on time. Total was $95. The dealer would have been $200 the next day plus a tow. The problem wasn't the fob at all. It was a dying battery that caused the WIN module to lose its key registration. That kind of diagnosis is exactly why I carry multiple tools. The first assumption isn't always the right one.
