1999 Dodge Stratus
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

1999 Dodge Stratus Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was parked near the waterfront side of Coronado Village when the call came in. A woman had a 1999 Dodge Stratus sitting in a lot and her only key had snapped off inside the door lock. Not the ignition, the door. She had used a wire hanger to fish it out partway and made everything worse.

She found me through a review someone left about a similar job. That review had actual detail in it: the street, the car, the process. That specificity is what made her pick up the phone instead of scrolling past.

When I got there, I pulled the broken piece out of the cylinder clean, then decoded the lock to read the correct cut. No guessing, no tracing the worn original. I cut a fresh key blade right there on the spot, tested it in the door, tested it in the ignition, tested the trunk. Everything turned smooth.

She mentioned the dealer had told her the car would need to be towed in and that they would have to look at the cylinder. Her words were something like, "they made it sound like surgery." It was not surgery. It was a mobile key job done in a parking lot in about twenty minutes, for a fraction of what she was bracing for.
