2022 Ford Edge Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A project manager in La Mesa Village had a problem that a dealership appointment couldn't solve. His 2022 Edge had stopped recognizing the fob after he swapped the battery himself.
He'd picked up the wrong cell size at a convenience store, and somewhere in the process the key lost its pairing. He had back-to-back meetings until mid-afternoon and couldn't leave the office, couldn't arrange a tow, and couldn't afford to have the car sit at a dealer lot for days waiting on a service bay.
He found me, called before 9am, and I was in his office parking lot before noon.
The fob itself was fine physically. The replacement battery he'd put in was the wrong thickness, so the contact had been making inconsistent contact every time the fob flexed in his pocket. I seated a proper CR2450, then connected to the OBD port and went through the immobilizer relearn sequence to re-pair his existing fob and register a spare at the same time. All five buttons verified working before I closed the hood.
He walked out after his 1pm meeting to two functioning keys. The car never left the spot. He didn't miss a single meeting. He paid a fraction of what the dealer wanted, and that wasn't even counting the tow he would have needed to get a car with an unrecognized key across town.
