2016 GMC Savana
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2016 GMC Savana Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A property manager over in Bressi Ranch runs a townhouse complex and uses her 2016 GMC Savana every single day -- property to property, maintenance call to maintenance call. She needed one spare for herself and two more for her maintenance crew.

The dealer quoted her per-key pricing that, multiplied by three, made no sense against her operating budget. On top of that, she couldn't leave the van at a dealership for half a day. She's the person who gets called when something breaks. The van staying somewhere else wasn't an option.

She called me and I met her at the complex one afternoon. She was on her phone handling a tenant situation before I even got the door open on my van.

The Savana takes a transponder key -- a blade-and-chip setup, nothing more complicated than that, but you do need proper programming equipment at the OBD port to register each new key to the vehicle's security system. I brought the right blanks, cut all three keys to her vehicle, and programmed them in sequence, testing each one individually for a confirmed start before moving to the next.

She handled two more tenant calls while I worked. The van never left the parking lot. By the time she wrapped her second call, all three keys were done, tested, and labeled for her team.

The dealer quote for three keys was the kind of number that makes you do the math twice. She paid a fraction of that, kept her van on-site, and was back on her rounds before dark.
