2023 GMC Savana Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a woman in Peutz Valley, out in Alpine. She had just landed from a red-eye, made it to the economy lot, and her 2023 GMC Savana would not respond to the fob at all. Doors locked. Key fob doing nothing. She was standing next to the van with luggage and no way in.
She had already called the dealer. Friday was the earliest they could see her. It was Wednesday morning. A tow company quoted her a number that made the whole situation worse. Then she found me.
I was in the lot in under an hour. Getting her into the van was the first order of business, and once I was in, I pulled up the key status through the OBD port with my diagnostic tool. Both fobs were still registered. Nothing had dropped out of the system. The whole problem was a dead CR2032 in the fob she had been using -- the battery had just given out, which killed both the remote signal and the fob's ability to wake the receiver.
Battery swap, quick re-sync, full button test on both fobs. Everything came back exactly as it should. She watched the whole thing from about three feet away, a little stunned that the fix was that unglamorous.
She drove home before lunch. The dealer route would have cost her two days, a tow, and a wait that had nothing to do with how simple the actual problem was. The real work here was just showing up.
