2017 GMC Savana Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call out to Harbison Canyon on a Tuesday morning. A guy had a 2017 Savana he used for a small contracting business, and his only key had snapped - blade broke off inside the ignition cylinder. He'd already tried a flathead to fish it out and made it worse.
He was parked at the side of his property, tools in the back, jobs lined up. No key, van going nowhere.
I drove out from Alpine with the extraction kit. Getting the broken blade out of the cylinder took a few minutes of careful work - you don't want to push a fragment deeper. Once it was out, I decoded the cut right off the lock so there was no guessing. Cut a fresh key blade to match, then connected to the OBD port to enroll the transponder chip to the vehicle. The van started on the first try.
He'd called a dealer earlier that morning out of reflex. They told him they'd need the van towed in, and the earliest they could look at it was Thursday. He would have lost two full work days waiting, plus a tow bill, plus whatever the dealer quoted for the job.
He was back on the road before noon. I didn't make a big deal of it. He had places to be, and so did I.
