Then there's the scheduling gap. Programming happens during service hours with a tech who has other jobs queued ahead of yours. Getting a same-week appointment is not guaranteed.

Last, dealer programming for Hyundai requires a live connection to the manufacturer's backend system. That system goes offline. Owners on forums have posted about arriving for a confirmed appointment only to be turned away because the programming connection was down that morning.

Probably not. If the car starts, the transponder chip in the key is still communicating with the immobilizer just fine. The remote function and the start function are separate. When the buttons die but the car runs, the first thing to check is the CR2032 battery. These cells lose voltage gradually, and the remote function drops out before the chip does, so it can look like a bigger problem than it is.

Pop the fob open, swap in a fresh CR2032, and make sure the battery is seated flat against both contacts. If the buttons come back, you're done. If they don't, the issue is likely in the fob circuit or the receiver on the vehicle side, and that's worth diagnosing before replacing anything.
