2017 Hyundai Accent
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

Q: How fast can you get to me in Poway?

For most of Poway and the Old Poway area, I am usually there within 30 minutes of the call, traffic depending. When you call, I confirm the year, make, model, and key type so I load the right blank and equipment before I leave. No second trips, no waiting on a part. Dealer lead times on remotes for this generation Accent have caught owners off guard.

Q: Can I get a replacement key made today?

Yes. I stock the correct blanks and carry the programming equipment on every call. There is no ordering anything, no waiting for a shipment, and no scheduling out a week. You call, I confirm the details on your 2017 Accent, and I come to you. Same day, on site, in Old Poway or anywhere else in Poway.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online for my 2017 Accent. Can I program it myself?

Not on this one. The 2017 Accent remote requires a programmer connected to the OBD port to register a new fob to the vehicle. There is no ignition-turn sequence or button-hold trick that works here. That kind of onboard self-programming is specific to older, simpler systems. This generation needs diagnostic equipment and the vehicle PIN to get into the immobilizer functions.

Q: My 2017 Accent remote stopped working after the car sat dead for a while. Is the fob ruined?

Probably not. A deep 12V battery discharge or a jump start can leave the body control module in a confused state where it stops communicating with the fob correctly. It is a known behavior with this generation. First thing to try: fresh CR2032 in the fob, then lock and unlock the car with the key blade manually, then test the remote again. If the buttons still do nothing, the fob may need to be re-registered using a programmer.

2017 Hyundai Accent Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a trade school student in Old Poway on a Tuesday afternoon. He was between classes, had a lab exam at 3pm, and his remote fob had stopped triggering the locks.

The car still started because the blade turns the cylinder, but he had no remote function at all, and he needed a working spare before his exam since he was sharing the car with a family member that evening.

The nearest Hyundai dealer was about 30 minutes out and told him Friday was the earliest opening. Parts were in stock, but Friday was Friday.

I drove out to the trade school lot with the right blank and my programmer. He was standing by the car in his work clothes, already a little tense about the time. I connected to the OBD port, pulled the vehicle data, and ran the remote registration sequence. Both his existing fob and the new one came up clean on the test. Locks, trunk release, panic, all four buttons confirmed working before I handed it over.

He was back inside before his exam started. The dealer route would have cost him three days and a family argument about the car. He paid a fraction of what they quoted and did not have to leave Old Poway to do it.

How long does a 2017 Hyundai Accent key replacement take?▼

If you have a working key and just need a spare added, the programming portion is usually under 15 minutes once I am connected. Total visit from arrival to a tested, working remote is typically under an hour. All-keys-lost takes a bit more time. I need to pull the vehicle's PIN data before I can enter the immobilizer menu, and that step adds a few minutes to the process.
