From there I connected through OBD and ran the Infiniti all-keys-lost sequence, which erases previous fobs and registers the new one as primary. His MECHANICAL-KEY, FCC ID , started the car on the first try. I cut him a spare too so he wouldn't be in this situation again.
His car started in the marina lot. Total was around $95. Dealer wanted $200 plus a tow and a weekday wait.
