1999 Infiniti Q45 Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy called me from his condo garage in the Las Americas Area on a Tuesday morning. He had a 1999 Q45, one working key, and a gut feeling that losing it would end badly. He had already called the dealer. They told him to bring the car in, schedule ahead, and plan on leaving it. He works remote, back-to-back calls most of the day. That timeline didn't fit.
I was at his garage before his first meeting started.
The Q45 uses a transponder key that looks plain from the outside, just a metal blade with a plastic head. No remote, no fob, no buttons. But inside that plastic head sits the chip that talks to the antenna ring around the ignition. Cut the blade wrong, or hand the guy a blank with no chip, and the car won't cooperate.
I decoded his lock at the vehicle, cut a matching blade, and used my Nissan/Infiniti-capable programmer to enroll the new key through the OBD port. The antenna ring read it clean on the first test. Engine started without hesitation.
He was back upstairs before his calendar turned red. He paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted and never moved the car an inch.
