Stuck ignitions on older Infiniti models are more common than most luxury car owners expect. The mechanical ignition on G35, G37, and FX-era vehicles uses the same Nissan-family lock cylinder that wears down over time, especially with heavy keychains. The wafers loosen, the key catches on the turn, and the owner assumes the ignition is dead. The dealer will gladly sell a full replacement.

A restaurant owner at the valet stand of his steakhouse near Live Oak Park had been fighting his 2003 Infiniti Q45 ignition for weeks. He'd wiggle the key, force it, sometimes wait a full minute.
