2019 Infiniti Q70 Emergency Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was parked near the water in the Bayside area of Imperial Beach when the call came in. Guy had a 2019 Q70 and needed a working emergency blade. His smart fob was intact and functioning fine, but he had pulled the blade out months ago to lend to someone and it never came back. Not a common call, but it happens.
He was calm about it, mostly just curious whether I could handle it without the full fob in hand. I told him I could decode the door cylinder directly, no original blade needed.
I met him near the marina side of the neighborhood. The Q70 was sitting in the sun and he watched me pull out the decoder and work the driver door lock. Takes a few minutes to read all the cuts off the cylinder wafer by wafer. Once I had the cut sequence, I cut a replacement blade to match on the spot.
He slid it into the fob housing and tested it. Door unlocked clean, first try.
He mentioned the dealer had told him they would need to order the whole fob assembly to get him a new blade, which made no sense to him, and honestly made no sense to me either. The blade is its own piece. We handled the actual problem, the one he actually had, without touching anything he didn't need touched.
