2004 Nissan Frontier
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

Q: How does mobile key replacement work for a 2004 Frontier?

You call, give me your year, make, model, and VIN. I confirm the correct key blank for your Frontier and give you a price up front. When I arrive, I trace the key code from the VIN or decode the lock directly, cut the replacement blade, and test it in both the door and the ignition before I hand it over. The whole thing happens at your location. No tow, no waiting room, no coming back the next day.

Q: What do I need to have ready when you arrive?

Your vehicle, a valid photo ID, and proof of ownership like your registration or title. I pull the VIN from the dash or door jamb to confirm the correct key specifications. That's it. The process on a 2004 Frontier is about as low-friction as key replacement gets.

Q: I have a working key but want a spare cut. Can you do that without the VIN lookup?

Yes. If you have a working key in hand, I can decode the cut directly from that key and duplicate it. VIN-based code lookup is mainly useful when there's no working key to copy from. Either path gets you the same result. Bring the key or bring the truck, and we go from there.

Q: My 2004 Frontier key turns hard and feels rough in the ignition. Do I need a new key or is the cylinder worn out?

Worth sorting out before cutting a spare, honestly. On a truck this age, it's usually one of two things: the key itself is worn down from years of use and isn't lifting the tumblers cleanly, or the ignition cylinder has worn tumblers that a fresh-cut key will actually improve. A new key cut to the original code can sometimes fix what feels like a cylinder problem, because the worn key was the one fighting the lock all along.

2004 Nissan Frontier Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy in Santaluz called me about a spare for his 2004 Frontier. He'd already been down the dealer road. They told him to come in, and when he asked if they could just look up the key by VIN, the answer was vague enough that he figured it wasn't worth the trip across town.

He was parked in his driveway when I pulled up. The job was simple: pull the VIN, trace the key code, cut a replacement blade to match. No port to plug into, no module to talk to, no countdown timer. Just the right blank and a clean cut.

I handed him a working key in under twenty minutes. He tested it in the door, tested it in the ignition, and that was it.

He mentioned the dealer quote almost as an aside. Said he expected it to take a full afternoon and cost him a lot more. The mobile call-out saved him the trip, the wait, and the difference in price. For a job this size, that math is pretty hard to argue with.

Nissan Frontier Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Do I need to bring my 2004 Nissan Frontier somewhere for a key replacement?▼

No. This is a mobile service. I come to wherever the truck is parked, whether that's your driveway in Santaluz, a lot in Rancho Bernardo, or your office. The 2004 Frontier uses a mechanical key, so there's no programming equipment or dealer-only system involved. I bring the blank and the cutting tools. Everything gets done next to your vehicle.
