2012 Nissan Frontier Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from someone working out of an office suite in the Poway Business Park. He had a 2012 Frontier parked out front and a remote head key that had taken a bad fall off a loading dock.
The housing cracked, the battery fell out, and when he taped it back together and tried to start the truck, it would crank but not fire. Security light sitting steady on the dash.
He had already been on hold with the dealer twice. The second time someone told him they could fit him in Thursday. It was Monday afternoon.
I pulled up to the lot, confirmed the transponder was no longer communicating, and got to work. New key, cut to the truck on site, and then the registration process through the OBD port. The immobilizer accepted the new key, I tested ignition, tested all three buttons on the fob, and walked him through the battery replacement so he would know which cell to grab if it ever went weak.
Total time at his location was about 45 minutes. He was back at his desk before his next meeting. Thursday at the dealer never came up again.
