2015 Nissan Frontier
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2015 Nissan Frontier Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy in Downtown National City, not far from the main strip on Highland Avenue. He was parked on a narrow side street, the kind where two cars can barely pass each other, and his Frontier wasn't going anywhere.

He had one key. That key had been dropped, stepped on at some point, and the blade had finally separated from the housing at the hinge. The remote head was intact but the blade was done. He'd tried to tape it together that morning. It didn't work.

The dealer had told him to tow the truck in. He looked up tow rates from that block and called me instead.

I walked up with my bag and my cutting machine on a cart. The blade cut took a few minutes once I had the key code pulled. The programming side is where these jobs live or die, and the 2015 Frontier needs proper diagnostic equipment to register a new key to the immobilizer. That's not a criticism of the truck, it's just how the system works, and it's exactly why I carry the equipment I do.

I handed him the new key, he turned it, the engine came up, and he drove off that street under his own power. He mentioned what the dealer quoted him and I told him what I charged. He did the math out loud and just nodded.

I was back at my van in under an hour total, including the walk.
