2005 Nissan Frontier Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a woman in Downtown Ramona who needed a spare key cut and programmed for her 2005 Frontier. She had one working key, wanted a backup, and had already called the dealer. They gave her a number that made her pause long enough to go looking for another option.
Her neighbor passed along my contact. She figured she'd hear me out.
I pulled up to her driveway with the key blank already in the van. The 2005 Frontier takes a remote-head key, so the blade and the fob are one unit. I cut the blade to her vehicle on my cutting machine, then plugged into the OBD port and walked the programming sequence. The truck's immobilizer needs to see the new key's transponder chip registered in its memory before it'll let the engine run. That's the step that trips people up when they buy a blank online and try to sort it out themselves.
The whole thing took about 30 minutes at her truck. She tested the buttons, tested the blade in the door lock, started the engine twice.
She paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted and didn't have to arrange a tow or a ride. That part seemed to genuinely surprise her, that I could do it right there in her driveway, same tools, same result.
