A long-haul delivery driver pulled over at a truck stop outside Lemon Grove had his key snap inside the ignition of his 2016 Nissan Frontier. The blade broke clean in half. He called another locksmith first, and that locksmith said the ignition cylinder would need to be drilled and replaced. New keys, new cylinder, pushing $500. He called me for a second opinion.
I used my DAT17 Lishi to extract the broken blade fragment from the ignition without scratching the wafer surfaces. Once extracted, I decoded the lock by reading each wafer position for exact cut depths. His car used a separate remote fob, FCC ID CWTWB1U751, and a standalone transponder key. I cut the new blade from the decode and programmed the transponder through OBD.
No drilling, no cylinder replacement, no new ignition assembly. His total was $185. The other locksmith's plan would have run $395 or more. His original lock works with the new key exactly like it did with the old one.
