2001 Toyota Highlander
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2001 Toyota Highlander Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy called from an empty office park in the Richland neighborhood of San Marcos around 9pm. His only key was gone. He had checked his pockets, the office, the parking lot. Nothing. He did not have his registration on him and had no idea what his VIN was. He was already pricing tow trucks.

I stopped him there. Look at the base of the windshield on the driver's side, right where the glass meets the dash. He found it. Then I had him pull up his insurance app for the registration info. It was all there.

That VIN told me everything I needed before I left my van. Year, model, key type, what blank to bring, what the transponder needs. I had the right parts staged and drove out to him.

Under the parking lot lights I cut the blade to his vehicle and programmed both the transponder and the remote fob functions. Tested every button. Tested the start. He drove home.

He had been about to call a tow, wait until morning, and deal with a dealer that was already closed. That was not going to happen fast or cheap. The VIN is the single most useful thing you can give me. Text it before I arrive and the whole job moves faster.
