That saved time because I didn't need to run a full all-keys-lost procedure. I extracted the broken blade fragment from the door lock, decoded the lock, and cut two fresh keys. Their fob, FCC ID KR5V2X, was a 5-button remote head key that I rebuilt into a new shell with the cloned chip inside. I showed them the chip from the cracked key so they could see it was still good, and explained why having two keys would save them money next time.
They went from zero working keys to two in about 40 minutes. Total was around 95. A full all-keys-lost without the broken pieces would have cost more, and the dealer wanted 200 either way. The chip data inside a cracked fob is often perfectly fine and salvageable, which makes the job faster and cheaper.
