In Ventura, over by Pacific View, I got a call on a Saturday from a woman who volunteers at a local temple. She was calm about it, but she had every right to be frustrated. Then I connected through the OBD port, cleared the incomplete registration data left by the previous attempt, and ran a clean immobilizer learn from scratch with the full security timer running. When it confirmed, I had her start the car herself and hold it while I watched for the two-second cutoff. Nothing. Clean start, idle held, all four fob buttons responding.
I showed her the confirmation on the programmer screen so she could see the key was fully written this time, not just temporarily accepted. She'd already paid the first locksmith, and I couldn't fix that part. But at least she drove home from Pacific View with a key that actually worked.
