2010 Honda Civic
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2010 Honda Civic Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a rideshare driver parked near a coin laundry off the main stretch in North Ventura. He'd already paid once and gotten burned.

He told me the story while I was still pulling up in my van. A locksmith from one of those flat-rate Google ads had come out, taken his money, and handed him a key that would start the car but had zero remote function. All four buttons on the fob did nothing. He'd been manually unlocking and locking for two weeks because he didn't want to get burned a second time before he figured out who to trust.

He asked me straight on the phone how he could verify I was legitimate before he handed over another dollar. That's a fair question and I respect it. I gave him my BSIS license number right there and told him to look it up on the state website while we talked. He did. By the time I arrived, he'd already confirmed it.

I opened the job by checking what the previous guy had actually done. The blade was cut correctly. The transponder was enrolled. The remote side had never been programmed at all. So the car ran, but the fob was basically an expensive key handle. It took me about twenty minutes to finish what should have been done the first time. All four buttons came to life, lock, unlock, and the other two, tested at range across the parking lot.

He said the dealer had quoted him a number that would have covered his car payment for the month. He paid me a fraction of that, and this time the job was actually done.
