Got a call from a retiree over in the Sunset Hills area of Thousand Oaks. He had a 2006 Honda Civic parked at one of the self-storage spots off the main road, and his only key had been getting flaky for weeks. Remote would work from two feet away, then not at all. The old key got erased from the immobilizer so it could not start the car anymore. He drove out of there with a fresh key and no dealer trip. Saved a good chunk compared to what the Honda store quoted him over the phone.
