A tattoo artist in Thousand Oaks, over in the Waverly Heights area, flagged me down at his shop lot. He had a 2005 Honda Civic and wanted a spare he could trust as a daily key, not just a glovebox backup. First thing he asked: "Is it going to be as good as dealer."

OEM Honda keys come with the logo stamped on the head, the factory housing, and a brand markup that reflects the logo more than the internals. The blade profile is standard HD103. The transponder is the same TI 4C/ID:13 glass chip Honda's MICU is looking for. Functionally, the aftermarket blank I carry does the same job.
I cut the blade on my Triton machine to the same specs as the original, seated the transponder pellet, and programmed it through the car's OBD-II port. The whole thing took about twenty minutes. He stood there turning the new key over, comparing it to his old one side by side, checking the button feel. Same weight, same snap-together fit, same blade thickness. The only difference is no Honda "H" on the back.
He tried it three times in a row. Doors, ignition, trunk. Then he just nodded and tucked it in his pocket like he had always had it.
