A rec league basketball player near Ventura Music Hall flagged me down between games. His 2015 Civic was sitting in the lot, completely locked out, zero working keys. He had one smart fob that quit after he tried swapping the battery with a pocket knife. The other key had been missing for months.
I checked the dead fob first. The internal board had a scorch mark right across one trace, classic metal-tool short on the CR2032 contact. That one was done. So this became an all-keys-lost job.
I decoded the door cylinder, cut a new emergency insert blade, and connected my IM608 to the OBD-II port under the dash. The 2015 Civic runs Honda's 46 (G) chip protocol through a Keihin immobilizer module. The AKL procedure has a timed security countdown built in, about ten minutes of waiting while the system resets. After registration, I programmed the new ACJ932HK1210A fob and tested.
Not just "does it start." I tested every button. Lock, unlock, trunk, panic. Walked thirty feet out and tested again. Started the car three times back to back to catch anything intermittent. He stood there watching the third start like he was waiting for it to fail.
It did not fail. He said the testing part surprised him. He expected me to hand over the key and leave. That extra five minutes of button pressing and restarts is the part that catches problems before they strand you somewhere else.
