Out near Happy Camp Canyon Regional Park in Moorpark, a woman with a 2011 Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track called me about her smart key. The rubber button pad was shot, the case had a crack running along the seam, and the emergency blade wobbled when she pulled it out. She had already been to the Hyundai dealer. What they did not mention is that the PCB inside, the one carrying the Hitag2 transponder chip and the 315 MHz remote circuit, was working fine. The SY5HMFNA04 board had no corrosion, no dead traces. It just needed a new house.
I met her in the driveway with a replacement shell, a fresh button pad, and my HY14 Lishi to verify the emergency blade cut. Moved the working board and chip into the clean shell, seated the new CR2032, and cut a new uncut blade to match. Tested proximity unlock on both front doors, push-button start, trunk release, and the panic button. All four buttons, every function.
She watched the whole thing from her front steps. Took maybe 20 minutes. When I handed the key back she just turned it over in her hand a couple times, like she was checking if it was really the same fob.
