2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a guy parked near the RiverPark shopping area in Oxnard. He'd been dealing with an intermittent issue for a few weeks: some mornings the smart key was recognized right away, other mornings the car threw a key-not-detected warning and just sat there. He thought it was the fob. He'd already swapped the fob battery twice.
When I got there, I ran through the fob first. Signal was fine. The car was picking it up inconsistently, not because the key was bad, but because the antenna loop near the ignition switch had a loose connection. That's the part nobody thinks about. The fob is only as good as what's listening for it.
I also noticed the key blade on his emergency insert was worn enough that it was dragging slightly in the cylinder. Two problems running at the same time, which is why swapping the battery never fixed anything.
We got the antenna sorted, cut a fresh blade matched to the cylinder, and enrolled the fob through the diagnostic port. Tested every function: lock, unlock, the start button response, and walked both doors.
He mentioned the dealer had quoted him for a new fob plus a diagnostic fee just to look at it. We handled the whole thing on site, at the car, in the parking lot. That's the job.
