An estate sale coordinator in Montecito, over near Miramar Beach, had a donor furniture pickup scheduled that morning and her 2019 Jaguar E-Pace would not start. The car was sitting at the charity thrift store. Movers were already heading to the donor's home, and the donor was elderly and had arranged a tight window. Missing it was not really an option.
She called the Jaguar dealer first. Earliest slot was next day. Then she called me. I was about 20 minutes out.
I got the door open and connected through OBD. Her smart key, FCC ID KOBJXF18A, is a 5-button fob running the Hitag Pro encrypted transponder. The antenna coil inside the fob housing had a hairline crack, which meant the passive entry and push-to-start side were dead even though the remote buttons still worked intermittently. That throws people off because half the key still seems alive.
I cut a new emergency HU101 blade, programmed a fresh fob through the KVM via OBD, and erased the old key's registration so it could not start the car. Then tested passive entry on all four doors, the tailgate release, and engine start-stop twice.
From her call to the engine running was about 45 minutes. She made the pickup on time. The parts were already in my van, which is the whole point of mobile.
