A repair shop near Moorpark Botanical Garden in Moorpark had a problem. A customer's 2020 Jaguar E-Pace was on the lift mid-service, and the only smart key had disappeared somewhere in the shop. The customer was picking up that afternoon.
The shop owner called me around 11 AM. He sounded like a guy watching a clock.
I got there and connected through OBD to the KVM module. On this generation E-Pace, the immobilizer data lives in the RFA system, and I used my diagnostic setup to pull the PIN and generate a new key profile. The KOBJXF18A is a 5-button smart key with proximity unlock on all four doors, push-to-start, and a tailgate release button. I programmed the transponder, paired the remote functions, and cut the HU101 emergency blade so it would turn the driver door lock cleanly.
Tested everything. Passive entry on the driver handle, then passenger side. Walked to the back and checked the tailgate proximity sensor. Hit the start button with the fob sitting in the cupholder. Then I put the fob on the floor behind the rear seat to make sure the interior antennas were picking it up at range.
The shop finished the repair, and the car rolled out on time. The shop owner just nodded and said, "That was close."
