Happy Camp Canyon Regional Park in Moorpark has those dirt parking areas that turn to mud when it rains. That's where I found the E-Pace owner, standing in the drizzle with her K0BJXF18A smart key that wouldn't detect.
"Smart Key Not Found" on the dash. She'd already tried the CR2032 swap. Still nothing. The dealer wanted her to flatbed it in, wait for diagnostics, then maybe order a new key if that's what it needed. Their timeline started at three days.
I pulled into the muddy lot and ran a voltage test on her CR2032. It read 3.1V, which should work fine. Connected my Autel IM608 to the OBD port and found stored code B1A85-64 for smart key communication failure. The KVM2 module wasn't seeing her key at all.
Fresh key registration through Pathfinder took about 20 minutes. I programmed the new K0BJXF18A, cut the emergency blade on my Condor XC-Mini Plus, and tested every function: touch entry, remote buttons, trunk release, and push-start authorization.
She watched me test the key three times before she believed it was really fixed. Right there in the rain, in the park lot, for way less than what the dealer quoted.
