Met a dental hygienist at Ventura Music Hall whose Seltos wouldn't detect her smart key anymore. Push-to-start just flashed "Smart Key Not Detected" while the fob sat right there on the center console.
She'd already swapped the CR2032 twice. Fresh Duracell both times. The remote buttons worked fine for lock and unlock, but the car wouldn't start unless she held the fob directly against the start button. Even then, sometimes it took three tries.
I opened the 95440-Q5400 fob in the parking lot. The battery contacts looked good, but when I checked the PCB, one of the 8A chip solder points had a hairline crack. Common on these SM-V3.0 boards after a drop. Quick reflow with my portable iron, then tested all functions: remote range back to normal, push-start recognized the fob from anywhere in the cabin, no more holding it against the button.
She mentioned the dealer wanted to order a whole new fob and couldn't see her for ten days. Instead, twenty minutes in the Music Hall lot fixed the actual problem for way less than they quoted.
